Music therapy is the clinical and evidenced-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program (AMTA, 2010).

Where Do Music Therapists Work?

Music therapist offer services in medical hospitals, skilled care facilities, rehabilitation hospitals, adult day care centers, senior centers, hospices, psychiatric treatment centers, drug and alcohol programs, schools, prisons, ICU, NICU, etc. Some therapists are self-employed and work on the basis of independent contracts.
